Namrata Shah Children’s Home

The Home was started in 2004 by the Diocese to cater for the growing number of children fromA? disadvantaged families in the category of orphans and vulnerable children from the larger Thika district. These are the children orphaned through the death of their parents mainly through HIV/AIDS and/or other causes, and hence lack the necessary provisions needed for their growth and development. These children could otherwise be faced with disillusionment in realizing their potential necessary to enable them take their place in society as responsible citizens.

Thika Orphans and Grandparents support is an extension arm of the Namrata Shah Children’s Home. The project with support from Hand in Hand UK identifies through the parish vicars, homes with orphans left under the care elderly guardians. Dairy cows are donated to the homes to augment on the household incomes, taking it that these are people thrown by A?circumstances into active life way past their prime ages. The milk is expected to improve on the nutrition value of the household diet in addition to contributing to the homes incomes.
